Disney Launches the New Play Disney Parks App

On 30 June, the Walt Disney Company released the Play Disney Parks App. The app is available at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort. This super fun and innovative app gives park-goers the opportunity to pass the time waiting in line or traveling between the parks. The Play Disney Parks App offers a variety of interactive experiences, games, and music. Each area of the park has unique games, trivia, and Apple Music playlists that the whole family can enjoy right from their phones. The best part though, it’s totally free. Thanks Disney!

How to Navigate the Play Disney Parks App

Download the Play Disney Parks App from the App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Android devices. On the initial screen, select Disneyland Resort, California. Then choose from Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park to get the fun rolling! There are different icons on the interactive map to click on and explore. Select the question marks for some Disney Parks trivia, or check out the music icon for playlists like, “Happily Ever After.” Pre-loaded playlists will automatically play through Apple Music on your iPhone with favorite Disney songs such as, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” “Part of Your World,” and “You’ve Got a Friend In Me.” This is one feature of the new Play Disney Parks App that you can enjoy outside of the parks, too. Listen to the songs before your trip to get you in the Disney spirit or listen to the playlists after your vacation has ended as a reminder of the sweet memories you made.

Unlock Achievements While You Wait

Click on the star icons next to attractions like Matterhorn Bobsleds, Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to earn special achievements while you wait in line. To use this feature on the app you must have location services and Bluetooth turned on. You must also be within close proximity to the ride queue. Your achievement will show up shortly after you complete the ride. Seems like a good time for a little competition with your friends to see who can get the most achievements in the shortest amount of time!

Connect with Friends in Line

At select attractions, including Peter Pan’s Flight and Space Mountain at Disneyland and Toy Story Mania at California Adventure, guests can connect with friends waiting in the same line and play games to make the wait a little more entertaining. You can build your own spaceship to race against your friends in Rocket Race while waiting at Space Mountain. Then, help your friends assemble a playset in Playset Party while you wait for Toy Story Mania.
