To Infinity and Beyond!- The First Scene

December 21st, 1937 was the night that started it all. Some say that it was all started by a mouse, and that is true. But, it was actually this very night that lit the spark into their movie business. This movie was the one and only Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs! Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs total domestic gross was $66 Billion at the box office. Because of the success that it had, Snow White went on to becoming a hit-classic.

81 years later, this movie is still watched, still beloved, and still a favorite to many people worldwide. Again, 81 years later, the Walt Disney Company has now made 402 films to be exact. And with that vast number, over 12 more are on the way through 2020! The library of movies is ever growing and will not stop growing. With that said, it’s time to look into the future and discover all the plans Disney has for future films! It is time to go to “Infinity and Beyond!”

Christopher Robin

The very first movie we can expect relatively soon would be the live-action remake version of Winnie the Pooh, or well, in this case, Christopher RobinThis remake brings together all of the lovable characters we know opening up a whole new chapter to that story. The official synopsis of the film is as follows: “In the heartwarming live action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who embarked on countless adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with his band of spirited and lovable stuffed animals, has grown up and lost his way.

Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside. Christopher Robin is stuck in a job where he is overworked, underpaid and facing an uncertain future. He has a family of his own, but his work has become his life, leaving little time for his wife and daughter, and he has all but forgotten his idyllic childhood spent with a simple-minded, honey-loving stuffed bear and his friends.

But when he is reunited with Winnie the Pooh, now tattered and soiled from years of hugs and play, a spark is rekindled, and he is reminded of the endless days of childlike wonder and make believe that defined his youth, when doing nothing could be considered something. Following an unfortunate mishap with Christopher Robin’s briefcase, Pooh and the rest of the gang including Piglet, Eeyore, and Tigger, step out of the forest and into London to return the crucial possessions…because best friends will always be there for you.” This movie is sure to evoke many emotions with fans of all ages, especially to the fans who grew up with everyone from the 100 Acre Wood when it comes to theaters August 3rd, 2018!

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

After we see Christopher Robin in August, we’ll have to wait until the next Disney film comes out in November. That movie will be the movie called “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.” You may have heard of and possibly have even seen the classic tale of the “Nutcracker.” The “Nutcracker” is a very famous Russian ballet show performed around Christmas. The ballet has been adapted into various formats, various movies, and many other mediums. With this film Disney is making, it brings on an All-Star cast with the likes of Morgan Freeman, Keira Knightley, Helen Mirren, Mackenzie Foy, and so many more to create a brand-new tale of the Nutcracker you have never seen before!

In fact, this new remake is an interesting approach for something that Disney is making. Their version is actually based on the ‘darker’ side of the Nutcracker that you may have never known about. With that said, here is the official synopsis of the film:

All Clara wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key. It then promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip, a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger, to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world.” This is sure to be one very interesting movie when it hits theaters this November 2nd, 2018!

Ralph Breaks The Internet

November is going to be a pretty sweet month for Disney movie fans! Not only are we getting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, but we’re getting a sequel to Wreck-It Ralph! Wreck-It Ralph instantly became a ‘Wreck’, but in a good way!

The Original Wreck-It Ralph was about a video game character called Wreck-It Ralph. He was portrayed as a bad guy but he was not a ‘bad guy’. So, he got jealous and decided to run away from his video game. He then explored other video games where he could become a hero. In the sequel, Ralph and the whole gang comes back, but visit the internet instead. They need to travel to the internet to find a part to fix Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush.

As the official plot goes, “Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2” leaves Litwak’s video arcade behind, venturing into the uncharted, expansive and thrilling world of the internet – which may or may not survive Ralph’s wrecking. Video game bad Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz risk it all by traveling to the world wide web. They are in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, Sugar Rush.

In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet – the netizens – to help navigate their way, including a website entrepreneur named Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of a trend-making website “Buzztube.” We, unfortunately, do not have to wait very long for Ralph to break the internet as we will be able to see him in theaters November 21st, 2018!

Mary Poppins Returns

“Winds in the east, mist comin’ in; Like something is brewin’ about to begin; Can’t put me finger on what lies in store; But I feel what’s to happen All happened before.” Just as Bert said that 54 years ago, that saying could not be truer today. Oh, wait! That reason must be because Mary Poppins is returning!! Did you hear the news?! Mary Poppins is returning!!! It may seem like it has been 54 years ago, but the ‘perfectly perfect’ nanny is returning to London. This time though, it is 20 years later after the events of the first film.

As the official synopsis of the movie goes, In the story, Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen (Walters), living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins (Blunt) re-enters the lives of the Banks family. With the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Miranda), she uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover true happiness.

Mary Poppins also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Streep). The film is produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt. The screenplay is by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by PL Travers with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing all new songs and Shaiman composing an original score.”  Beginning December 19th, 2018, we will be able to ‘fly a kite’, ‘up to the highest height’ when it hits theaters!

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is not a Disney movie. It is though, still nonetheless underneath the ‘Disney Family Umbrella’ as Marvel is owned by Disney. As Captain Marvel is a big superhero in the Marvel universe, it should come as no surprise that she plays a big role in Avengers 4. In an official Marvel Press Release, the official plot synopsis is as follows:

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” How she plays into Avengers 4, we may not really know until Avengers 4 comes out, but we may have a clue or hint as to what is to come when Captain Marvel flies into theaters March 8th, 2019!

Dumbo

October 23rd, 1941 was the day we discovered an elephant who could fly! This elephant was named Dumbo not because he was dumb, but because he had really enormous ears. Unfortunately, Dumbo is not a real elephant. He is a fictional elephant from the 1941 Disney film by the same name. Dumbo one day discovered he could fly with his rather large ears which wowed audiences making him a global sensation! Fast forward 78 years later to 2019, that every movie is getting the ‘classic Disney remake’ into a live-action film! Real animals won’t be in the movie. Instead, filmmakers use CGI as well as live actors to make it look as realistic as possible. The one and only Tim Burton is the director of the film! Starting March 29th, 2019, you “Don’t [need to] just fly, [you can] soar!- Timothy Mouse, Dumbo”

Penguins

Every Earth Day, Disney celebrates nature and animals in a really special way. They release a film inspired by the animals and nature around us. Since April 22nd, 2009, Disney has been making these amazing documentary films under the Disneynature name. Every year we got one, except for 2018. Theaters were going to receive a film called Dolphins, but the film was canceled due to undisclosed reasons. In 2019, we can hopefully expect to see a new film which will be called Penguins. According to the official synopsis of the film as described by IMDb, it is about “The story of Steve, an Adélie penguin, on a quest to find a life partner and start a family. When Steve Meets With Wuzzo the Imperator Penguin, they become friends. But nothing comes easy in the icy Antarctic.” We can expect to meet Steve when he waddles on into our theaters April 19th, 2019!

Avengers 4

Marvel fans of all ages have a burning desire to see an answer to one question; “What in the world happens to all of the Avengers come Avengers 4?!” The events of Infinity Wat left us all in shock. So many characters died or should we say vanished and changed the course of the MCU as we know it. In total, Loki, Heimdall, Gamora, and Vision all die in the movie.

Black Panther, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Winter Soldier, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, Mantis, Nick Fury, and Maria Hill; all these people vanished simply because of a finger snap. All in all, that number is a total of 16 heroes who have either ‘died’ or vanished! With the actions of those events, the future of the MCU is going to change and we will find the outcome of this in Avengers 4 when it hits theaters May 3rd, 2019!

Aladdin

It was the holiday season of 1992; the season we met a princess and her hero. Not only that, but we were introduced to a very charming genie who claims that You ain’t never had a friend like [him] me. Genie, Aladdin” The movie became a hit with many people and even went on to become 2 more direct-to-video movies in Aladdin: King of Thieves and Aladdin: Return of Jafar! The Aladdin movie we all fell in love with is now getting a live-action remake 27 years later! The all-star cast contains Will Smith as the lovable genie, along with some amazing newcomers! Hopefully, this live-action Aladdin will be just as good as the original animated film! Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see when the film hits theaters May 24th, 2019!

With all the films coming out in 2018, 2019, and beyond, there is so much to look forward to! Too bad we cannot yet get tickets for these amazing films. But, one thing is for sure. Disney is definitely going to be making lots of money over the next few years. We have only covered 9 upcoming films Disney plans to make! That total has not even scratched the surface though with how many more movies Disney has in store! In fact, there are 10 more movies coming out! To find out what else is coming soon, be sure to look for part 2 of “To Infinity and Beyond!”
